Research Program Manager (9807411)


Research Program Managers implement global operational systems, connect teams and knowledge, and problem solve operational hurdles to enable Researchers to do their most impactful work. This particular Research Program Manager will be a strategic and operational partner for Researchers on Messenger. 

In this role, you will set up operational processes focusing on improving research tracking and approvals, budget, information sharing and community building. You'll be a leader for defining how our teams share knowledge across the organization. You'll utilize a full range of organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to help keep our teams on track, execute specific research initiatives intended to grow team culture and industry expertise, and establish great ways of working together. Above all else, you'll ensure that teams are stable and running well in order to allow researchers to focus on their work.

The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguous situations, able to facilitate our teams' best work by managing short- and long-term projects and initiatives, anticipating project issues and resolving them, connecting resources to research needs, and removing barriers to doing great work. Our Research Program Managers are experts in problem solving and multitasking, while building long-term relationships with the team.

This role requires project and program management experience and broad knowledge of research's impact on product design and development. Communication skills, ability to manage complex logistics, and an organized approach are mandatory. This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park office.


  • Establish effective team communication, proactive problem solving, information gathering and collaboration
  • Create team member onboarding and education programs specific to team’s needs
  • Develop best practices for team meeting facilitation, sharing updates, and connecting with cross-functional teams

Prioritization and Planning

  • Support research planning and allocation, helping track, align and forecast team needs
  • Track and move research initiatives forward that have multiple stakeholders and many moving parts
  • Create flexible processes that meet team needs and help stay on schedule
  • Establish an organizational system to ensure research resources are easily discoverable

Creativity and Problem Solving

  • Create a communications strategy to keep stakeholders informed of research analysis and findings
  • Serve as a dependable point of contact/link to the whole team and other cross-functional teams
  • Facilitate other team culture building and knowledge sharing activities and events


  • Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to multi-task and juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • 2+ years experience working with UX research, design, or cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years of experience as a producer, project manager or program manager with experience establishing systems, supporting large teams, and developing relationships
  • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
  • Experience in independent time management, task prioritization and identifying problems and working toward solutions
