Research Scientist (9826350)


Works primarily with gathering knowledge and understanding research. Perform experiments, make observations, and create detailed papers of findings for peer review and publishing. Create experiments that include both control and experimental groups under the purview of an academic or research organization's approval. Record responses based upon the introduction of a variable into both groups. 

Typically draft a proposal for such experimentation. May be required to have proposals reviewed by peers within the field to determine the validity and methodology of the research work. Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge, and publish findings in professional journals, books, and/or electronic media. Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. Write grant proposals to procure external research funding.


  • 1+ years of experience and knowledge in liquid crystals and polymers, polarization optics and physical optics
  • Experience in preparation of polymer films and liquid crystal devices in a clean room environment and their characterization
  • Experience with holographic technique; optical assembly, recording and characterization of holograms
  • Experience in design and modeling of liquid crystal cells and polymer films using such tools as MATLAB, Python, LCDMaster or equivalent, COMSOL, Jones calculus, FDTD, etc
  • Proven track record of achieved results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents and publications


    • Bachelors degree required
    • PHD Preferred
