Product Designer IV

The Product Designer will be dedicated to the production and maintenance of People Products Guidance Library and
interpret the shared Geodesic Design System Library for desktop and mobile. Having a role focused on this must-do
work will allow the remaining FTE designers to focus on meeting their deliverables by supporting their needs. The
designer will also be focused on facilitating component updates for the People Products team, and creating
specifications for the new components and patterns we have on our roadmap for the half.

Give and solicit feedback from other designers in order to continually raise the bar for quality
Review the existing landscape of current components and design a solution that is simple, elegant and scalable
across our interfaces
Participate in design crits to identify new components and patterns that can become standardized
Design or evolve existing designed components
Document and spec patterns and components
Define and iterate on system level standards - typography, color, illustration, grid, etc
Create tools and templates to automate the consumption of components
Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a component
or pattern from conception until launch


Hard Skills
Expert with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, and Illustrator
Proficient with Microsoft Office and G-Suite
Comfortable with HTML/CSS/Basic Markup
Strong product thinking and familiarity with design systems to define of how components would interact across
difference surfaces or scenarios
Experience prototyping workflows and interactions
High craft visual design with a clean and modern aesthetic
Attention to detail - You should be able to notice if a design is using the wrong font size, type choice and is 3
pixels off from an existing standard

Soft Skills
Proactive, resourceful and driven self-starter - skilled at navigating a matrixed organization and building design
and XFN relationships
Polished communication and collaboration skills - adept at breaking down complex user experience and
interface design problems into digestible action items for both technical and non-technical audiences
Relentlessly positive can-do attitude, excited to tackle complicated problem space
Experienced and track record of success with collaborating with both fellow designers and XFN partners (e.g. PM,
Engineering, Content Strategy, Research)
Active and willing participant in team design reviews/critiques and able to provide productive and constructive
feedback to fellow designers
Must Haves
7+ years industry experience
Strong sense of visual craft with a healthy obsession on polish
Have strong production design experience
High level of collaboration working across cross functions to deliver work
Strong product thinking with a familiarity of design systems, specifically:
Relationship between design decisions and impact at a systems-level scale
Typography, spacing and color as they relate to information hierarchies
Have enough technical acumen to pick up a prototyping tool
Self directed project management skills
Shipping products in the enterprise and business space
