ROLE OVERVIEW
Facebook is seeking a Research Coordinator to join its Public Policy team to support a large, complex cross-functional project that covers a range of issues. The Research Coordinator will be a key driver of both the research and the implementation support required to conduct the next phase of this cross-functional project — and will be a key liaison between key internal stakeholders and outside organizations. The position will be based in Washington D.C., with frequent travel to Menlo Park will be required. This is a contractor role with a minimum of a 1 year contract.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, get-things-done professional who can function in a fast-moving environment, and rapidly earn credibility and trust with all levels of the organization. They are adept at understanding complex policy, civil rights and social issues and are passionate about the mission of Facebook. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate project management aspects and the successful execution of a complex, cross-functional, high stakes project
  • Synthesize feedback and learnings from various external stakeholders and distill key information
  • Support communication with external advisors, academics and public policy experts
  • Build alignment among key project stakeholders and escalate decisions as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Bachelor degree in law, communications, journalism, political science, public policy, business, international relations, gender studies or equivalent. JD degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of civil rights and technology
  • Experience with the public policy community, including think tanks, academics, policy advocates/activists, trade associations, and other NGOs
  • Exceptional researcher and ability to synthesize multiple inputs into a clear plan
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently and to learn quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and independently
  • Experience managing projects with lots of stakeholders
  • Previous work in Internet and telecommunications regulation, political analysis, intellectual property, privacy in law firms or related preferred
